This is for a unique and interesting challenge that I got from the wonderful story writer Hargun. I heartily thank her for giving me this chance to explore something that I never tried before. Her passion to experiment with writing is inspiring. Despite her busy schedule these days, the dexterity with which she writes is commendable. π Here I make a humble attempt in doing what she does best.
The rules for the same were as follows:
- Open an MS Word document
- Set a stop watch or your mobile to 5 minutes or 10 minutes whichever challenge you think you can beat.
- You topic is at the foot of this post BUT DO NOT SCROLL DOWN TO SEE IT UNTIL YOU ARE READY WITH A TIMER.
- Fill the word doc with as much words as you want. once you began writing do not stop even to turn.
- Do not cheat by going back and correcting spellings and grammar with spell check in MS WORD (it is only meant for you to reflect on your own control of sensible thought flow and for you to reflect on your ability to write the right spelling and stick to grammar rules)
- You may or may not pay attention to punctuation and capitals. However if you do, it would be best.
- At the end of your post write down βNo. Of words =_____β so that we would have an idea of how much you can write within the time frame.
- Do not forget to copy paste the entire passage on your blog post with a new Topic for your nominees and copy paste these rules with your nominations (at least 5 bloggers).
I was given the word: Mischief
Time taken : 9 minutes 52 seconds
I had a good intention. I was really offended by the incident and wanted to go there just for the sake of myself. But it was useless to give the same argument to them. They had huge and heavy laathis and water guns were just too strong to be resisted by our hungry tired bodies. We were a group of 4 among the rest thousands. We called ourselves responsible citizens, but the termed coined by them was βmischievous elementsβ hampering the security of a VIP area.
There might not be any visible change in the world that happened by our presence there. But the passion and aggression that was seen in the eyes of those people of all ages and religions asked us a favor. The favor to do your bit to save this country from becoming a living hell for women. Yes, we might not have transformed anything by that bashing from our protectors, but those eyes did transform us. The sexist jokes, the stereotypes of driving, the comments, the whistles and the stalking done by our superstars β suddenly stopped being funny and amusing. I am glad I did that mischief. I am glad I hampered the security of the VIP area.
Total number of words : 203
[This is in reference to the gruesome December 16 incident that happened in Delhi and shook the foundation of humanity]
Writing on the spot without giving hours of thought that I usually tend to give, gave me an adrenaline rush. I never felt so excited to do my best in limited time in any other exam till now π
“The favor to do your bit to save this country from becoming a living hell for women” caught my heart π

You could think of that incident in that given time, and write. Great attempt! π

I can never forget that incident. Have written and performed 2 street plays, and one elocution piece based on that. π
So I’ll agree the thought process that went into that would be technically much more than 10 minutes π
Still, I’ll gladly take your appreciation and will wear a wide grin π

That was the day when humanity died. It is painful to see no change in the outlook of people even after that π¦
