Eyes and suitcase

With a few thudds of a relatively newer cloth
The dust cloud flew before the anticipating eyes
Pin drop silence broken by the zzziping sound
The suitcase was opened after decades.

Black and white photographs
Brought colourful nostalgia
In the sparkling eyes
The suitcase was opened after decades.

A college degree of two of those eyes
The laughing echo of the past in present
Tears for the loving and caring deceased
His suitcase was opened after decades.

Our memories turned to my precious
Our childhood to my good days
All but dust was divided among shameless eyes
The suitcase was happily closed for decades.

Eye for an eye

I looked in those eyes trying to find
The fear in which they swam
The pain that broke teary dams
Instead I saw,
Eye for an eye making the whole world blind

Innocent blood was split, burnt bodies were lined
Though candles were lit and songs were sung
Still hard to understand if the communal bee never stung
What candles couldn’t provide, was provided by terror
So eye for an eye made the whole world blind

Revenge was taken by spilling more innocent blood
Swords and knives transformed to RDX and guns
Punished was everyone except the culprits
The culprits of both sides still hard to find
Probably because eye for an eye has made us blind.

A wink!

SDC12627-edited

In times of darkness look around
Eyes fixed on the beauty of moon
While feet sticking firmly on ground
A path lights up singing your tune

Destination being the palace white
Could be closer than you think
Now that feet move towards glowing light
The path will be as long as a wink

Hardly mattered

SDC12681
Yesterday morning

To transform his weary world he took a flight
Got surrounded by a storm sinister, yet he
Flew to fight the menacing dangers still out of sight
Though scared yet the obsession was too sacred to flee

Gazers from ground watched in awe
The battle of big versus the small
With wind wrecking their nests of straw
Jealous judgements born hoping for his fall

The journey was long and tiring
Hurdles of rain and wind helped none
Unscathed the determination, and blood firing
Ensured that well begun was already half done

When the attempt was made by all the
strength gathered
The final result in the eyes of others
hardly mattered

Nominated by Sunaina, whose writings with incredible insights never fail to explore new thinking horizons and Udit, a wonderful writer – I again start the Quote challenge with this quote by Rumi : “You were born with wings. Why prefer to crawl through life?”

The quote reminds me to be a little less cautious and a little more foolish so that even if I fail, I have the satisfaction of knowing I couldn’t have done better.

Enough

When it is hard for the eyes to spot the difference
Between reality and virtual reflection
The commotion in the mind searches for reminiscence
But in vain goes all the introspection

He looks through the glass of guilt made
Translucent by the scars of selfishness
Yearning to do righteous deeds slowly fade
Trapped in the comfort zone exposing helplessness

Focused on the light he tries again
Trusting the trees and leaves to be real
He breaks the glass leaving weakness’ feign
To climb to the roof enchantingly surreal

Upon reaching the top he turns and sees
The journey traveled from dungeons to sky
Tired, he deep breathes the refreshing breeze
Lived and loved enough, he now wasn’t scared to die

Dazzling in the darkness

SDC12577

A time when headlights outnumber
The compassionate eyes seen on road
Hearts are usually found bleeding
Waiting to be crushed, while ego shadowed

A city where soothing plants are
Mercilessly cut and carved
To spread natural green beauty
Where humanity starved

A night which never experiences dark
The rush dazzles it like love
In brightness, light is nowhere to be seen
So bringing everyone together, flew a brave dove

So this was the picture from Karol Bagh metro station (where photography is illegal) for the Day 3 of the Five Photos, Five Stories challenge, nominated by a perfectionist in the armchair, Prajakta.

I would nominate the dove, Kritika for this challenge now so that the joy of being an audience for her writings, photography and sketching could be shared with all of you.
The challenge is – “Post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo. It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or a short paragraph and each day nominate another blogger for the challenge”
